An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Protect Transgender Lives: Act on the Crisis Claiming Our Community

83 so far! Help us get to 100 signers!

Murry Foust — a 22-year-old transgender senior at Northern Kentucky University — is dead. He disappeared April 27 on his way to class and was found weeks later by a community search party, not by official channels. The climate your colleagues have created with relentless anti-transgender legislation has real consequences, and Murry's family is living them right now. Transgender people are disappearing and dying while lawmakers spend their energy stripping away their rights, their healthcare, and their dignity. That hostile environment doesn't stay in committee rooms — it follows people into their daily lives and makes the world measurably more dangerous for them. Murry was weeks away from graduating. He had art hanging in the Cincinnati Art Museum. He had a future. Do your job and protect it for the next Murry Foust before another family is left holding a memorial scholarship instead of their child.
