Remove offensive Confederate statue, honor civil rights activists

The National Park Service should not reinstall the statue of Confederate general Albert Pike in Washington D.C. Pike led the Confederacy's efforts to preserve slavery and was allegedly involved with the racist Ku Klux Klan after the Civil War. Public funds would be better spent creating educational initiatives honoring those who fought for liberty, civil rights, and human dignity rather than glorifying defenders of injustice. The Park Service has an opportunity to promote healing and a more perfect union by removing offensive symbols that distort history and undermine truth and reconciliation. Please actively support efforts to permanently remove this statue and those of other Confederate traitors to our United States.
