The Republican proposal for the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act is a blatant attempt to disenfranchise millions of eligible women voters. This legislation would unjustly require women who have changed their names through marriage to go through an arduous court process to obtain legal proof, simply to exercise their constitutional right to vote. Estimates indicate over a third of American women lack documentation matching their current legal names. Erecting such bureaucratic obstacles amounts to an assault on women's suffrage. We call on you to vigorously oppose the SAVE Act and uphold the fundamental democratic principle of equal voting rights for all citizens, regardless of gender. Stripping women of their voice at the ballot box undermines the integrity of our elections and represents a disturbing backslide towards the repressive, undemocratic norms of the past. Protect this pillar of democracy and reject any efforts to curtail women's hard-won voting rights.
