Urgent Call to Cosponsor & Support S.Res. 68 - The US Will Not Take Over Gaza
247 so far! Help us get to 250 signers!
I am writing to urge you to immediately cosponsor Senate Resolution 68, introduced by Senator Tim Kaine on February 10, 2025. This resolution asserts that the United States must not deploy military assets or personnel to Gaza with the intent of “taking over” the territory.
The resolution highlights several critical points:
• Humanitarian Impact: The Israeli military operations in Gaza have resulted in over 45,000 Palestinian deaths.
• Ceasefire Opportunity: The January 15, 2025, ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has provided a crucial opportunity for the international community to deliver much-needed humanitarian aid to Gazans.
• Presidential Statement: On February 4, 2025, President Trump suggested that the United States should “take over the Gaza Strip” and forcibly relocate its inhabitants.
Deploying U.S. military forces to Gaza would not only violate international law but also exacerbate regional instability, endanger American lives, and undermine our nation’s moral standing. The Palestinian people have an inherent right to self-determination and to live peacefully in their homeland.
By cosponsoring S.Res. 68, you will:
• Uphold International Law: Reinforce the United States’ commitment to international legal standards and human rights.
• Promote Peace: Support diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
• Protect U.S. Interests: Prevent unnecessary military entanglements that could have severe repercussions for American security and global standing.
I also urge you to publicly endorse this resolution and issue a press release to inform your constituents of your commitment to justice and peace. Your leadership is vital in ensuring that the United States pursues a foreign policy rooted in respect for human rights and international law.
To those who have already done what is being asked in this letter, thank you.
To all other senators, I look forward to seeing you take immediate action.
