Carr's weaponization of the FCC's public interest standard and revived content rules like the news distortion policy enables this extortion scheme. He has reimagined these policies far beyond their intended scope to target media companies' editorial decisions and diversity efforts over manufactured controversies. The regime bolsters the FCC's threats with parallel lawsuits by the president himself. This coordinated campaign of legal harassment and regulatory pressure creates an environment of uncertainty that compels companies to self-censor and compromise journalistic integrity to appease the White House.
