Reject the 1776 Slush Fund and Uphold Equal Justice Under the Law

I am demanding that Congress ensure the proposed $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” is permanently dead and never allowed to reappear in any form. Taxpayer dollars should never be used to create a political slush fund for hand-picked groups claiming they were victims of government “weaponization.” That proposal was an abuse of the public trust, and its rescission should be the end of the matter—not merely a temporary retreat. I am equally troubled that the settlement still grants unique protections regarding certain past tax matters for Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization. Although the Acting Attorney General narrowed the agreement, it continues to create treatment that ordinary Americans do not receive. The foundation of our justice system is equal protection under the law. Every American is expected to comply with the tax code, submit to audits when warranted, and resolve disputes through the same legal process. No family, no corporation, and no elected official should receive special carve-outs or negotiated advantages unavailable to everyone else. Congress has a constitutional responsibility to conduct oversight of the executive branch and safeguard taxpayer dollars. I expect immediate oversight hearings into this settlement, full public transparency regarding its terms, and legislative action to prohibit any future administration from creating similar taxpayer-funded compensation schemes or special legal privileges for politically connected individuals. Americans are tired of one set of rules for the powerful and another for everyone else. Government exists to serve the public—not to reward political allies. Restore confidence in our institutions by reaffirming a simple principle: equal justice, equal accountability, and equal treatment under the law. I expect Congress to act. Now.
