The decision by Texas House Democrats to flee the state in an effort to block the GOP congressional map is a bold move to protect the integrity of our elections and ensure fair representation for all Texans. Gerrymandering distorts the will of the people and undermines our democratic process. By leaving, these legislators are using their rights to prevent further entrenched partisan bias in the maps. We must put partisan politics aside and draw district lines that accurately reflect the diversity and will of Texas' communities. Fair maps foster confidence in our elections and maintain our status as a true representative democracy. This courageous stand deserves support in preserving an electoral process that gives every Texan an equal voice.
