Greetings. I am a voting constituent in rural west Texas.
Results from the recent elections in Texas are in. Our small town succeeded in beating back the crazy element trying to take over an important county office. We had record voter turnout. People here are determined, Republicans and Democrats, to retake sanity in our public arena.
So that’s great news.
I’m just wondering when our federal politics will catch up. If political life is indeed 99% self-preservation, y’all might want to take heed. It doesn’t get any redder than my town. Our people here are sick of the drama. Sick of the glorification of all the wrong things: Trump, January 6 insurgency, Putin, authoritarianism, extreme nationalism.
Y’all all talk about the true America. That’s where I live.
It seems the focus is always on the loudest. The rudest. The most outrageous. The most divisive. You have forgotten this is not the majority of your constituents.
The majority wants stability. Common sense solutions. Compromise. Working together to get the important stuff done. Kindness between neighbors.
Not anarchy and chaos.
So instead of trying to appease the losing side of history to the detriment of the majority, you should take a stand to help bring the country back together.
And my guess as to the first step would be to keep backing off from an ex-president who seems on the verge of being charged with seditious conspiracy.
Not a good look to bet on such a horse.
America is watching true heroics and patriotism in Ukraine. Our leaders should try their best to to be worthy of and to strengthen our fragile American democracy…the same democracy that Ukraine is desperate to retain.
