The MEGA Act: An Unconstitutional "Solution" in Search of a Problem

I am writing to you yet again to voice my opposition to the ongoing efforts to disenfranchise American citizens, including the Make Elections Great Again (MEGA) Act (H.R. 7300). This legislation is clearly solution in search of a problem, and its implementation would represent a significant failure of institutional competency. Proponents of the MEGA Act claim it is necessary to prevent noncitizen voting, yet empirical data from across the political spectrum—including the Heritage Foundation—proves this threat is nonexistent. The Heritage Foundation’s own database of election fraud identifies only 99 suspected cases of noncitizen voting since the year 2000. In a country where over one billion votes have been cast in that timeframe, a 0.0001% incidence rate does not in any way support the systematic disenfranchisement of millions of eligible American citizens.  By mandating documentary proof of citizenship, this bill ignores the reality that 34.5 million eligible Americans do not have immediate access to the specific documents required. This creates a documented disparate impact on student, low-income, and rural voters, violating the Equal Protection Clause. We do not need more legislation built on false pretenses. I urge you to rely on verified data rather than partisan rhetoric and vote NO on the MEGA Act. I will be monitoring your actions on this legislation as a direct measure of your commitment to the rule of law and the constitutional rights of your constituents.
