Block Appropriations Bill Provisions that Cut WIC for FY27: No More Rollbacks

Today I take pen in hand to write and urge you to oppose and remove provisions in the FY27 Budget that would cut funding to Women, Infants and Children Program (WIC) that is part of SNAP. This is a direct attack on poorer communities, and despite the Ag Secretary’s claims, does nothing to prioritize ‘customer service’ like this was some kind of grocery chain. WIC is one of the most effective public health nutrition programs, and even 10% cuts will only further destabilize the public safety net that supports millions of lower-income Americans. The level of meanness is evident in that it was originally a 75% cut! Even the cheap and mean Republicans couldn’t stomach that. Worse, once again, the offices of WIC will move to Kansas City, Missouri. If the pattern set by other office moves continues, staffing at the agency will diminish, further affecting any ‘customer service’ that Rollins is spinning as a solution. Other rollbacks by Rollins include ways to make it easier to apply for benefits, and making access to healthier foods easier. This is customer service? Trump and his Republican enablers are lying. The money ‘saved’ by cutting WIC in the FY 27 budget will simply be put towards wars and ballrooms and things that people don’t need or want. It’s as plain as day that the Republicans that hold the purse strings don’t care about anyone but themselves, and enriching their friends. They are looters not legislators. Demand answers in committee from Rollins. Stop the cuts to WIC. Stop the dismantling of effective agencies. Now. Thank You.
