An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Disaster Relief or Concentration Camps?

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

In the wake of the Texas floods, and with a hurricane on the horizon for the Carolinas, I want to reach out about FEMA. There is no reason for FEMA funding to have been redirected towards building concentration camps--and yes, let's call those migrant detention centers what they are, we all saw how this went last time --when Americans are suffering so heavily from the steady march of unmitigated climate change. And here we are, slashing funds to an already infamously crippled FEMA. How many natural disasters can we stack up this summer before FEMA is overwhelmed? Why is the current administration so hellbent on making it even more difficult for communities to get help and recover from increasingly catastrophic incidents? Do your part in returning funds to disaster relief instead of building more cages for kids.
