Stand Up for Idaho Values—Vote No on This Reckless Bill

I am writing to express my strong opposition to several provisions in the “One Big Beautiful Bill” that would impose harmful and unnecessary burdens on Idaho families. Chief among my concerns is the reduction in the SNAP age-of-dependency exemption from 18 to 7. This abrupt change fails to account for the real-world challenges working parents face and risks depriving children of essential nutrition when their families are forced off the program for not meeting unrealistic work requirements. The bill also expands Medicaid work mandates and prohibits Medicaid and CHIP from covering gender-affirming care for youth. These changes would leave millions without coverage and prevent families from accessing medically necessary care for their children. This is not only a health crisis in the making—it is a civil rights issue that targets some of our most vulnerable. Policies that remove support from working families and place additional barriers to healthcare undermine our values and obligations as a nation. Idahoans deserve laws that strengthen—not destabilize—their households. Please reject this bill and demonstrate the courage and integrity this moment demands.
