Halt arms shipments, seek diplomatic resolution for Israel-Hezbollah conflict

Israel's planting of explosives in Hezbollah's pagers was an extraordinarily reckless and dangerous act that has tragically cost innocent lives. Such provocative operations designed to escalate tensions and foreclose the possibility of a peaceful resolution are unacceptable and deserve unequivocal condemnation. As a first step toward de-escalation and restoring prospects for a ceasefire, I urge an immediate halt to all arms shipments to Israel. The path of escalating violence clearly leads nowhere good; it is imperative that all parties work urgently toward a negotiated settlement through diplomacy and dialogue rather than further militarization of this tragic conflict.
