Governor Sanders, with all due respect, I need you to actually read any scientific information--or reputable information at all--about cannabis and derivatives before you pass legislation on it. I'm aware this law has been dead in the water for two years, and frankly, I was hoping it would stay that way. "Synthetic" cannabis is not the problem. Derivatives of cannabis are not "synthetic". I am fine with Arkansas regulating THC-containing products until such time as the state votes to legalize recreational use (and believe me, we will, with or without your support). But attempting to attack other legal products that contain no THC is ridiculous. CBD, CBN, CBG, and other cannabinoids are not psychoactive. They are plant-based medicines. They provide physical relief from a number of symptoms without the "high" associated with THC. This is not a danger to children in the way you seem to think; these products are being sold in specialty stores, not department stores or candy shops. Unless a child wanders into a smoke shop, they won't accidentally stumble across CBD gummies, and frankly, if they did, it literally would not hurt them. Most cannabinoids are utterly harmless and cannot reasonably be overdosed. If a parent leaves any product around that a kid picks up, that's the parents' problem, not the state's. If it's a labelling issue, let's talk about how many alcoholic beverages look like sodas. How many have colorful cartoon labels, fun fonts, bright colors? Could you blame a kid for thinking a Seagram's is a Jones soda? The same applies. This directed approach at cannabis products is clearly based on an agenda against cannabis specifically, not anything to do with protecting kids, or that would be addressed too. Read a paper or two, take a CBD gummy, and calm down, please. Arkansas will not allow this.
