The administration's proposed cuts to the Department of Veterans Affairs workforce would be devastating for the health care and services provided to our nation's veterans. Filling only 1 out of every 4 job vacancies would severely undermine the VA's ability to deliver quality care and process claims in a timely manner. I am deeply troubled by these plans. Veterans have sacrificed immensely for our country, and we have an obligation to ensure they receive the best possible care and support. The VA already struggles with staffing shortages, especially for medical professionals. Further reducing personnel would exacerbate wait times, limit access to specialized care tailored to service-related injuries and illnesses, and impede the efficient processing of disability claims and other earned benefits. Rather than downsizing the workforce, we should be bolstering the VA's resources and staffing to meet the growing needs of our veteran population. I urge you to vigorously oppose any measures that would cut jobs and funding for this vital agency that serves those who have served our nation honorably. We must uphold our commitment to caring for veterans with the dignity and excellence they deserve.
