We are seeing a troubling pattern of actions that concentrate power in the executive branch while weakening essential checks and balances. Congress has a constitutional duty to act when executive power is abused. I urge you to take clear and decisive steps to defend democratic norms and uphold the Constitution by condemning authoritarian behavior, refusing to support funding that enables unconstitutional actions without oversight, and supporting investigations into abuses of power and misuse of office.
If a president repeatedly defies the law and exceeds constitutional authority, accountability measures including impeachment must be pursued. Failing to act signals acceptance of executive overreach and weakens the institutions designed to protect our democracy.
I expect Congress to serve as a co equal branch of government, not a bystander. Protecting the Constitution requires courage, independence, and a willingness to act in defense of democratic principles.
