I am strongly in favor of both Congress and the White House applying the full weight of the American government toward demanding a ceasefire from Israel. I also am stating my support of a walk-out by congressional workers to voice their descent of the actions of our government over the past month.
The messages of unconditional support that have been shared by my representative, my senators, and the president toward Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on a civilian population have been disgusting to witness and receive. I am deeply disappointed in your continued choice to ignore the voice of the majority of Americans who do not consent to you using the power of our government and our tax dollars to support and fund this genocide.
Politics may move slow, but heinous acts do not. The public has witnessed the atrocities that Israel is commuting in real time and you were deeply mistaken to think that rhetoric would assuage your constituents.
I want this to be abundantly clear, without unequivocal action from you to do whatever is possible to get Israel to stop their assault on Gaza and immediately begin the work of ending their occupation of Palestine, I will not be supporting any of you with my vote in further elections.
This past month has been a horror to behold, and your actions of supporting this genocide have been deplorable. It is never too late to join the right side of history, and I hope when you come to your senses you can devote yourself to making amends for your actions.
