I write with urgent concern about HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.‘s dangerous mismanagement of our nation’s health agencies. Kennedy has overseen massive cuts to CDC, FDA, and Health Resources programs that “undermine the work of public health agencies to keep Americans safe,” according to the American Public Health Association (April 2025). After terminating 10,000 HHS jobs, Kennedy admitted to ABC News that “studies that should not have been cut were cut” and had to be reinstated because they were “mistakes” (April 2025). Biomedical industry leaders warn that “institutional knowledge that makes the FDA the world’s leading regulatory body will be irretrievably lost,” with companies already encountering regulatory difficulties due to his reckless cuts.
Kennedy systematically violated his confirmation promises and eliminated scientific oversight. Doctors for America reports that he “backtracked on his pledges to carry out departmental work with ‘radical transparency’” and “broke his promise not to challenge the childhood immunization schedule promptly after stepping into his role” (April 2025). He posted documents proposing to “strip public participation from much of the business his department conducts,” eliminating public comment requirements (February 2025). Kennedy fired all 17 members of the Advisory Committee for Immunization Practice, replacing them with vaccine critics, while planning to dismiss the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force because he views them as too “woke” (July 2025).
Most alarming, Kennedy’s continued misinformation is creating direct public safety risks. More than 750 HHS employees signed a letter calling Kennedy “complicit in dismantling America’s public health infrastructure” by “repeatedly spreading inaccurate health information,” noting the August 8th CDC shooting was linked to a gunman with “yearslong grievances with the COVID-19 vaccine” (August 2025). Kennedy refused to “strongly endorse vaccination in the wake of two children’s measles deaths” while “promoting unproven measles treatments.” Former Surgeon General Jerome Adams criticized Kennedy’s “delayed and tepid” response to the CDC shooting targeting public health workers.
These documented failures demonstrate Kennedy lacks the competence, integrity, and scientific grounding necessary to protect American public health.
I urge you to immediately call for his removal and support congressional hearings on this public health crisis. American lives depend on competent health leadership.
Misinformation and conspiracy theories must not be tolerated when we’re talking about life and death of the American people.
