An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stand Up for Public Education

7 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

Trump and Musk’s efforts to dismantle the Department of Education are escalating. With Linda McMahon now confirmed as Secretary of Education, the department is under direct attack. This is a clear attempt to defund public education, harm low-income districts, undermine protections for students with disabilities, and cut vital programs like Title I and IDEA. We cannot stand by as they dismantle this crucial support system. I urge you to take immediate action by: Using all procedural tools to slow Congress and halt funding bills until the attack on the Department of Education stops. Organizing media events in your district with teachers and students to showcase the devastating impact of eliminating the department. Demanding a floor vote in both the House and Senate so that no member of Congress can avoid accountability. We must stand up for our schools, students, and educators. The future of public education is at risk, and your leadership is needed now.
