An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Stop big greedy bill

8 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!

I am writing as a deeply concerned and actively engaged constituent, as well as a longtime human rights supporter of Amnesty International, to encourage you to oppose any funding that cuts critical resources for our communities in order to fuel President Trump’s plans for mass deportations, mass detention, family separation, and border militarization. Communities are struggling to make ends meet, and we deserve better than our taxpayer dollars going to programs that violate human rights, destroy our communities and don’t work. Instead, I strongly encourage you to invest our taxpayer dollars in our communities to support a strong social safety net and an immigration system that protects access to asylum at the border, invests in a robust welcoming infrastructure, allows our undocumented neighbors to step out of the shadows with a roadmap to citizenship, and upholds human rights. This massive funding package undermines people’s dignity, separates families, and hurts our communities. I urge you to vote no in the strongest possible terms.
