An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Oppose the Montana Sportsmen Conservation Act (S. 3527/H.R. 6788)

48 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

As your constituent, I’m calling on you to oppose the so-called “Montana Sportsmen Conservation Act” (S. 3527 and H.R. 6788). The bill would slash protections for more than 156 square miles of some of the wildest federal public lands remaining in Montana. The intent of S. 3527 and H.R. 6788 is clear: open up 100,000 acres of the Middle Fork Judith, Hoodoo Mountain, and Wales Creek Wilderness Study Areas to logging, roadbuilding, mining, and motorized wreckreation. These federal Wilderness Study Areas belong equally to everyone, and they also provide essential habitat for grizzly bears, gray wolves, Canada lynx, elk, and mountain lions. In the midst of a biodiversity crisis, the last thing our nation needs to do is develop our wild places. That’s why, as your constituent, I’m counting on you to vote against S. 3527 and H.R. 6788.
