I am writing to express my strong opposition to two act introduced today. The “Promptly Ending Political Prosecutions and Executive Retaliation Act” sponsored by Rep. Russel Fry and “ The No Rogue Rulings Act “, Introduced by Rep. Darrell Issa ( who is also nominating Trump for the Nobel peace Prize.) Both of these bills represent a serious threat to our democracy, and I urge you to vote against them.
The No Rogue Rulings Act seeks to limit the authority to provide injunctive relief in cases of executive overreach, amending Chapter 85 of Title 28 of the U.S. Code. This measure effectively weakens the checks and balances that are so crucial in preventing abuse of power. Furthermore, it could have dangerous consequences for accountability, enabling actions by the President that could undermine the rule of law.
Equally troubling is the “Promptly Ending Political Prosecutions and Executive Retaliation Act,” which proposes to give the President more power over state and federal court jurisdictions, potentially allowing for cases involving the President to be removed to federal courts, shielding him from consequences for actions private or public that threaten the very fabric of our democratic system.
There have already been 46 temporary restraining orders issued against actions taken by President Trump in 2025. These legal measures reflect a growing concern over the President’s disregard for both Congress and the judicial branch. He continues to act as if he is above the law, referring to actions as though they were the sole work of President Biden, ignoring the role that Congress plays in the lawmaking process.
Together, these two bills pave the way for unchecked executive power, and I fear that their passage would be a devastating blow to our democratic system. A vote in favor of either of these measures would make you complicit in undermining the balance of power and the principles that our democracy was founded upon.
I urge you to stand firm against these bills, protect the integrity of our constitutional system, and vote against them. The survival of our democracy depends on your leadership in rejecting this dangerous overreach.
