Urgent action needed to stop DOGE's illegal data breaches

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Elon Musk's direction has undertaken an alarming and likely illegal breach of privacy by accessing highly sensitive personal data from numerous federal agencies. This includes employee records, tax information, student loan details, disaster victim data, and more - all without proper authorization or justification under the exceptions outlined in the Privacy Act of 1974. This blatant violation of a critical law intended to protect citizens' privacy from government overreach cannot be allowed to continue unchecked. The Privacy Act expressly prohibits agencies from disclosing personal records to employees or third parties without written consent or meeting strict exceptions. DOGE's actions of indiscriminately accessing and sharing this data across agencies do not qualify under legitimate "need to know" or "routine use" exceptions. Lawsuits have already been filed by government unions, advocacy groups, and state attorneys general seeking to halt this egregious intrusion into Americans' private information. Court orders have temporarily restricted some of DOGE's data access, but stronger action is needed. I urge you to take a firm stand in upholding the Privacy Act and citizen privacy rights by supporting efforts to fully block DOGE from illegally acquiring and exploiting private data across the federal government.
