An open letter to the President & U.S. Congress; State Governors & Legislatures

Protect the Center for Disease Control Library

19 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

I am writing to express my concern over the public health risk posed by the recent cuts to the CDC Library. I urge you to advocate for the Library and its staff. The CDC library has existed since 1946 to support the work of agency employees. It provides access to accurate and timely public health information to support researchers and public health workers responding to emergencies and researching emerging threats. The CDC needs access to scientific literature to protect public safety and inform policy-making. It should be our priority to ensure that these librarians continue doing the work they have done for decades through many different administrations. I urge you to demand that CDC Library staff be rehired and that staffing remain at previous levels.
