Your misinformed, hateful comments on the “Brian Lehrer Show” about Zohran Mamdani — and, by implication, all Muslims and non-Muslims (including Jews) who wish for a better life for Palestinians who are suffering and dying daily under severe oppression and often outright hated by an occupying force — should disqualify you to represent the State of New York. He was asked out of the blue whether the phrase “globalize the intifada” made him uncomfortable and he explained with great care why it did not, including that the Arabic word “intifada” is used in Arabic translations at the Holocaust Museum to describe the Warsaw Uprising, using that example to try to educate listeners that the word can have positive meaning. Why should he apologize for answering a “gotcha” question with care simply because some people (including you) disliked his answer? I’ve scoured the Internet for comments you may have made to condemn the absolutely vile and hateful language used by Netanyahu and some in his government to describe Palestinians or the war crimes of that government. Oddly, you do not seem in the least disturbed by the deaths of tens of thousands of Gazans or the burnings and killings that are a daily occurrence in the West Bank, even though those people are family and friends of many, many New Yorkers. If you wish to represent New York, represent all New Yorkers. If you can’t do that, resign and let someone who will do the job.
