Opposition to HR 7626 - Affordable Air Conditioning Act

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to express my strong opposition to HR 7626, the Affordable Air Conditioning Act, which places concerning limits on the Department of Energy's (DOE) ability to prescribe and enforce energy conservation standards for room air conditioners. This bill, if passed, would hinder the DOE's crucial role in promoting energy efficiency and environmental sustainability. By prohibiting the DOE from enforcing standards unless they meet stringent criteria of being technologically feasible, economically justified, and not adding net costs to consumers, HR 7626 risks stalling progress in energy conservation. It is essential that we prioritize energy efficiency to combat climate change and reduce our carbon footprint. Limiting the DOE's authority in this manner could have adverse effects on our environment, public health, and long-term energy security. I urge you to stand against HR 7626 and support initiatives that promote responsible energy use and conservation. Our future generations depend on the actions we take today to protect our planet. Thank you for your attention to this critical matter.
