Concerns about House Bill 772 and Voter Intimidation in NC

The recent introduction of House Bill 772 in North Carolina, which allows partisan poll observers to intervene in election administrative spaces, raises serious concerns about the potential for voter intimidation. The bill's provisions, including permitting observers to come within 5 feet of voters, take pictures and videos inside polling locations, and the presence of up to two at-large observers per party, could potentially disrupt the democratic process. Furthermore, the bill's lengthy process for removing harmful observers and the threat of a Class 1 misdemeanor for poll workers unable to prove observer obstruction, undermines the integrity of our elections. It is crucial to ensure that our democratic processes are free from intimidation and bias. Therefore, it is requested that this bill be reconsidered to protect the rights and safety of voters.
