Hidden tax on money transfers - Vote NO

I am begging you, please vote NO on the Big Beautiful Bill. I won't even go into the cuts to SNAP, Medicare, and the child tax credits. But there is something in there that a lot of people don't understand will hurt not only us Americans but poor people around the world. The 5% tax on remittance sent outside the US is deeply disturbing to me. My mother has been a Christian missionary in the Democratic Republic of the Congo for the past 12 years. Because she is not a Congolese resident, she cannot hold a bank account there. Because of this, the non-profit she founded with her bare hands has to send money to her right-hand man who is a Congolese resident. The bill does not state whether non-profits will be exempt from this rule, but at first glance it appears they will not. This means the $40 it cost me yesterday to wire money to them will now cost $190!! $150 may not seem like much, but that is an entire MONTH'S salary for a housekeeper in D.R.C. Our fundraising is very limited and we already struggle to bring in enough funds to support our mission. Now we are going to have to fire that housekeeper because we won't be able to afford to pay her because of these unnecessary fees intended only to hurt poor people. This will also affect any US citizen who is kind in their heart and sends money to their families in Mexico, Latin America, Asia, South America. There are so many people who struggle just to survive, and now this bill will make that impossible. Please, please, please. Have a heart and see what a Yes vote on this bill will do to your constituents. I beg you, please vote NO.
