While I understand the importance of America’s relationship with Israel, it is also important to recognize the atrocities, past and present, committed by Israel upon the Palestinian civilization. The attack by Hamas against innocent Israelí citizens was brutal and unjustifiable. However, Israel’s reaction has also been brutal and unjustifiable. In order to fully comprehend the situation between Israel-Hamas it is necessary to look at past treatment of Palestinian people by Israel. Palestinians are treated as second class citizens and limited to basically an open air prison. The Abraham Accords was a step in the right direction between Israel & the Arab world. Israel’s sovereignty has been recognized the Palestinian people have not been treated according to this accord.
The Abraham Accord states:
“mutual understanding and coexistence, as well as respect for human dignity and freedom, including religious freedom” and as far as I can decipher, these practices are not granted to the Palestinian people.
Palestine is not a recognized country and the Israelis have encroached upon the land dedicated to Palestinians since 1948.
In closing I condemn the actions of Hamas against innocent civilians and I condemn Israel’s continuing bombing of Gaza civilians as well as their blocking of humanitarian aid in Gaza. This is tantamount to genocide of the Palestinian civilization. I urge you to withhold all military aid to Israel until a complete ceasefire is in place. We need to be instrumental in sending humanitarian aid to Gaza.
It’s possible to condemn both the Hamas attack and the retaliation by Israel. The similarities between Russia’s actions to reclaim Ukraine and Israel’s encroachment and devastation upon Gaza does not go unnoticed.
