Mass deportations

I am writing to express my extreme concern regarding President Trump’s mass deportation plan, as well as his reported proposal to send undocumented immigrants to Guantanamo Bay. These policies are not only inhumane and unnecessary but also financially irresponsible, with the potential to exponentially increase our national debt.
The president’s repeated falsehoods regarding the number of undocumented immigrants who commit violent crimes have gone too far. The reality is that these individuals, while here illegally, play a crucial role in our economy—particularly in our agricultural sector and food supply chain. Deporting them en masse would create significant labor shortages, driving up food prices and disrupting essential industries.
Furthermore, I am deeply concerned about the administration’s rhetoric and policies regarding our trade relationships, particularly with Canada and Mexico. The president’s misleading claims about the U.S. subsidizing Canada are absurd, and his proposed high tariffs on Canadian and Mexican goods will have devastating effects on our economy. Increased costs for imported goods will place a financial burden on American consumers, and retaliatory measures from our trade partners could lead to job losses and economic instability.
As my elected representative, I urge you to put country over party. Your duty is to serve the people of Indiana, not the president. I ask that you stand up against these reckless policies and work toward solutions that uphold our nation’s values while safeguarding our economic stability.
I appreciate your time and consideration and look forward to your response.
