An open letter to the U.S. Congress

Time Is Short, Be Proactive and Stop Project 2025

1 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

As your constituent, I’m writing with deep concern about Project 2025, a sweeping initiative that proposes to radically reshape our federal government by concentrating power in the executive branch, undermining institutional independence, and politicizing public agencies. While every administration brings new priorities, this agenda goes far beyond policy shifts. It threatens the foundations of our democracy — proposing to purge career civil servants, dismantle regulatory protections, and weaken the impartiality of agencies like the Department of Justice. It’s not hypothetical. The Trump administration enacted roughly half of this agenda already, including the attempted implementation of Schedule F, the sidelining of independent agencies, and the politicization of federal law enforcement. Project 2025 is a roadmap to finish what was started — with even fewer constraints and greater speed. Even more alarming, the Supreme Court’s recent ruling limiting federal judges’ ability to issue nationwide injunctions is a deeply concerning sign that the judicial branch is no longer functioning as a reliable check on executive power. If courts cannot swiftly stop unlawful federal actions from taking effect nationwide, it opens the door for sweeping abuses to go unchecked — especially under a more authoritarian administration. I urge you to act immediately and decisively to prevent the advancement of this plan, including: • Reinforcing civil service protections through legislation • Blocking any efforts to revive Schedule F or similar executive orders • Supporting the independence of institutions like the DOJ, EPA, and CDC • Demanding transparency and oversight of transition efforts and appointees • Speaking out publicly against authoritarian and anti-democratic proposals We may not have until the midterm elections to stop this. The groundwork for Project 2025 is being laid now, and if successful, it could be implemented within the first 100 days of a new administration. Waiting is not an option. The preservation of our democracy may depend on what Congress does in the months ahead, not years. This is not about partisanship. This is about protecting the rule of law, the separation of powers, and the principles enshrined in our Constitution. I ask you to lead with clarity and conviction.
