An open letter to the U.S. Congress

New Order Dangerously Disregards Constitutional Rights.

32 so far! Help us get to 50 signers!

This executive order represents a dangerous overreach of federal power that threatens civil liberties and undermines constitutional protections. Unleashing unchecked law enforcement and providing legal indemnity promotes unaccountable policing that can lead to rampant abuse and discrimination against minority communities. Empowering law enforcement to "aggressively police" without appropriate checks and balances is a recipe for trampling on citizens' rights. Furthermore, using military assets and homeland security task forces for domestic law enforcement blurs the line between civilian and military roles, setting a disturbing precedent. This order prioritizes an oppressive and draconian approach over addressing root societal issues through investment in communities. It is a misguided attempt to solve complex problems through force rather than holistic reforms centered on justice and human rights. I strongly urge the administration to reconsider this reckless order that disregards constitutional principles and undermines public trust in fair and equitable law enforcement.
