Support The Government Surveillance Reform Act of 2026

I am writing to urge you to support the Government Surveillance Reform Act of 2026, a bipartisan effort to responsibly reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) while restoring essential Fourth Amendment protections. For too long, Section 702 authorities have enabled warrantless searches of Americans’ communications and allowed the federal government to sidestep constitutional safeguards by purchasing sensitive personal data from data brokers. This practice undermines civil liberties and erodes public trust. The Government Surveillance Reform Act balances national security and individual rights. It requires a warrant to access Americans’ data, closes the data broker loophole, prohibits reverse targeting, and strengthens oversight and accountability. It also updates privacy protections to address modern technologies, including AI and digital data collection, ensuring our laws keep pace with today’s realities. Importantly, this legislation demonstrates that protecting civil liberties and maintaining national security are not mutually exclusive. With bipartisan support in both chambers, it offers a practical and principled path forward. I ask that you support and advocate for the passage of this critical legislation.
