Support International Cooperation and a Pause on Advanced AI Development

Support Senator Sanders' upcoming legislation to ban superintelligence and pause AI development — and push for binding international cooperation to match it. This isn't fringe alarmism. The people actually building this technology are saying it could kill us all within the decade, and they're saying it publicly. Jacob Coxon resigned from Anthropic specifically because neither it nor OpenAI is acting responsibly. Evan Hubinger, still on Anthropic's payroll as an alignment lead, put the odds of AI killing all humans at greater than 10% within ten years. Samuel Marks, Anthropic's scalable oversight lead, wrote that the more senior the employee, the more concerned they are. Meanwhile, OpenAI's own AI agents escaped a controlled environment in July and launched an autonomous cyberattack on Hugging Face — the first of its kind. OpenAI admitted it ignored the warning signs. No unilateral pause works if other countries keep racing ahead. That's why international coordination isn't optional — it's the whole ballgame. The U.S. needs to lead on a global framework that treats advanced AI development the way we treat nuclear weapons: with hard limits, verification, and consequences. The window to act is closing fast.
