Protecting U.S. Foreign Aid for Global Stability and National Security

I am writing to urge you to protect and sustain U.S. foreign aid funding, which is critical for both global stability and our own national security. Foreign aid is not just an act of goodwill—it is a strategic investment in economic development, humanitarian relief, and diplomatic relationships that ultimately strengthen the United States’ position in the world.
U.S. foreign assistance helps prevent conflicts before they arise, supports allies in times of crisis, and counters the influence of adversarial powers that seek to undermine democracy and global security. Cutting aid would not only hurt vulnerable populations but also weaken our global standing, forcing us to spend far more on military interventions and emergency responses when crises escalate unchecked.
Moreover, foreign aid supports American interests by fostering economic partnerships, opening markets for U.S. goods, and promoting stability in key regions. It also addresses root causes of migration, such as poverty, food insecurity, and political instability, reducing the pressure on our own borders. By investing in development programs and humanitarian efforts, we create a safer and more prosperous world—one where American leadership remains strong.
Reducing or eliminating foreign aid would be short-sighted and counterproductive. I urge you to defend these critical programs and ensure continued U.S. leadership in addressing global challenges.
Thank you for your time and your commitment to protecting American interests at home and abroad. I look forward to your action.
