Subject: Deep Concern for Your Safety and Well-Being
I recently read The Guardian article about Republican lawmakers facing threats and intimidation, and I have to say—I’m really starting to worry about you. Then, I caught your recent Fox News appearance, and frankly, the way you read from that teleprompter… well, Senator, it didn’t exactly exude confidence. It had more of a hostage video vibe. Blink twice if you need help?

I say this out of genuine concern because your recent voting record makes it seem like someone else is calling the shots. Your positions are increasingly libertarian rather than traditionally conservative, and they certainly aren’t in the best interests of Iowans. Consider the following:
Voting to weaken farm subsidies while ignoring rising input costs – Agriculture is the backbone of Iowa. Undermining its stability isn’t just bad policy—it’s a betrayal of the people who elected you. Our farmers are already struggling with inflation, supply chain issues, and unpredictable weather. Slashing support while doing nothing to address their mounting costs is unacceptable.
Aligning with Elon Musk on government spending – In a February 12 interview, you mentioned speaking with Elon Musk “every few days” as he spearheads President Trump’s agency spending audit. Musk is a self-serving billionaire with radical libertarian views, not a policymaker. He has also unapologetically funded and promoted groups with ties to neo-Nazis. Why are you taking budget advice from someone whose interests are entirely detached from those of hardworking Iowans?
Imposing new tariffs on key trade partners – The recent tariffs on Mexico and Canada are reckless and shortsighted. These policies will drive up costs for American families and invite retaliatory measures that could devastate Iowa’s agricultural exports. Farmers and manufacturers alike depend on stable trade relationships—why support policies that put them at risk?
None of this makes sense from a Republican standpoint—certainly not from the Joni Ernst I thought I knew. So either your political compass is broken, or you’re under duress. If it’s the latter, just say the word (or, you know, casually mention corn subsidies during your next press conference, and we’ll know you need backup).
But in all seriousness, Iowans deserve representation that actually fights for them—not for some extreme ideological experiment. You’re not acting like the senator you once claimed to be, and I can’t tell if it’s fear, pressure, or a complete abandonment of principle. Either way, it’s deeply concerning.
