The travesty of the Amy Coney Barrett confirmation

Merrick Garland. I’m sure you know the name. Mitch McConnell and the GOP Senate refused to even acknowledge, much left fill, the SCOTUS vacancy that resulted from Antonin Scalia’s death. The reason? The seat should be filled by the *next* president, and the election was “only” 10 months away. Now we have the vacancy created by the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and you and the rest of your Republican colleagues are rushing to confirm Amy Coney Barrett while voting for the next president is going on. No need to point out the blatant hypocrisy — you don’t care. No need to point out the disrespect in ignoring Justice Ginsburg’s final wishes — you don’t care. No need to point out the stunning disregard for the opinion of the majority of Americans — you don’t care. But I will point out that 2022 is coming. And 2024 is coming. We will remember your actions. Perhaps you will care then.
