Stop Appointing Pro-Israel Hawks to Lead on Middle East Policy

Appointing Jared Moskowitz as ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and North Africa is a direct slap in the face to Democratic voters. Sixty-five percent of Democrats now sympathize more with Palestinians than Israelis. In Michigan, 80 percent of Democratic voters believe Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. This is not a fringe position — it is the base, and leadership keeps ignoring it. More than 100 House Democrats voted to block a weapons transfer to Israel this July. Abdul El-Sayed just defeated a pro-Israel incumbent in Michigan after being outspent by over $60 million. The voters are sending a clear message. Hakeem Jeffries' unfavorable rating has hit record highs, and stunts like this are exactly why. If Democratic leadership wants to hold any credibility going into the midterms, it needs to stop rewarding politicians whose positions are wildly out of step with the people who show up to vote. Reverse this appointment and start listening.
