Protect USPS independence and non-partisan public service

The reported plan by President Trump to dismiss the board of the U.S. Postal Service and bring it under direct executive control is deeply concerning. The Postal Service is an independent agency that has operated outside of political influence for over 200 years. Subjecting it to the whims of any administration undermines its ability to function impartially in service of all Americans. This move appears aimed at consolidating power over a fundamental part of the nation's infrastructure and communication networks. The free flow of mail and packages is essential for businesses, households, and the economy at large. Trillions of dollars in commerce rely on the Postal Service operating efficiently without undue political interference. Over 600,000 workers could see their livelihoods disrupted by this drastic change as well. I urge you to take action to protect the independence and non-partisan nature of the U.S. Postal Service. Safeguarding this vital institution from being co-opted for political purposes is crucial for upholding democratic principles and serving all citizens equally. The Postal Service must remain outside the direct control of any single administration or party. Please oppose any efforts to dissolve the USPS board of governors and undermine this public service's autonomy.
