In just the past few days, we have seen the president justify the expected acceptance of a $400,000,000 jet from Qatar in clear violation of the emoluments clause, sanctions being lifted in Syria after Ahmed Al-Sharaa floats the idea of a "Trump Tower" in Damascus, and continued use of the $TRUMP meme coin that effectively puts money directly in our president's pockets even when not being used to sell access to him via dinners and/or other events.
How is this anything other than advertising that our president and our country's policies are for sale? Congress needs to (a) speak out loudly and often that these types of practices need to stop immediately, (b) begin looking into transactions that have already taken place, and (c) censure this president for both participating in and justifying these actions.
We would never let another president do these things without huge congressional push back, and rightfully so. That congress sits on its hands now is both telling and unconscionable. You took an oath to uphold the constitution. Please do so. Your constituents do not believe this is okay, and we are counting on you to act in our behalf.
