While there will always be attempts to change the subject, summer doldrums, DC recess, helter-skelter media focus, just a reminder that the focus on Jeffrey Epstein by we the people will not go away.
And any wishful thinking by the Trump administration is just that.
This week Democrats on the House Oversight Committee were able to finally force the chair, James Comer (R-KY), to issue subpoenas for the DOJ records on the Epstein investigation.
And also subpoenas for former government officials connected to the case.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) posted that the DOJ now has two weeks to release the files to the committee. She wrote: “It’s time to find out who’s been protected, who thought they were above the law, and who’s been hiding behind power.”

Trump continued to defend the bad optics of his former lawyer turned Deputy AG, Todd Blanche, meeting with a lawyer representing Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as with Maxwell herself.
Meetings that immediately resulted in Maxwell being moved to a Club Fed facility in Texas. Moved even though every rule in the book said that was not allowed.
Meanwhile, outlets reported that top administration officials, including Vance, Blanche, WH Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, AG Pam Bondi, and FBI Director Kash Patel, were scheduled to meet at the V-P’s residence Wednesday to coordinate the administration’s Epstein strategy.
The family of Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein’s victims, issued a statement saying: “We understand that Vice President J.D. Vance will hold a strategy session this evening at his residence with administration officials. Missing from this group is, of course, any survivor of the vicious crimes of convicted perjurer and sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. Their voices must be heard, above all. We also call upon the House subcommittee to invite survivors to testify.”
But after news of the meeting leaked, Reuters reported that it had been canceled.
Strategy session? How about releasing the files? How about the House invites survivors to testify? How about following the money?
The Trump administration has zero problem releasing any and all materials it wants to. Even if, as with the latest Russia investigation report release, it jeopardizes lives of intelligence officers, or America’s security.
So all the deflection, foot-dragging, declarations of transparency, and tossing the hot potato around will not result in public interest in this scandal going away.
And you have Donald Trump to thank for the repercussions.
