I am writing you as a result of recent cuts to the US Forest Service and US Parks employees, out of concern for our public lands. Access to our public land is an incredibly important issue to me and to so many of my community. In this great country, we are blessed to have breathtaking landscapes, unique features and natural phenomena that should be available for all citizens to enjoy. The parks service, forest service and many other federal agencies are so pivotal to keeping our public land safe, clean and accessible to the citizens who have the right to share public spaces.
Please do everything in your power to reinstate public servants who have lost their jobs as a result of these mindless “budget cuts,” and protect our public lands from the greedy private sector and fossil fuel lobbyists who are constantly trying to undermine the federal lands.
National parks and other public lands are incredibly popular with a large and bipartisan section of the American electorate. Even in the minority party, I am confident that there are actions you can take to pass laws and worker protections in order to support those public servants and to maintain access & funding for public land.
The rich and powerful in this country are doing everything in their power to dismantle federal systems, and any lost access to public land is a harbinger of lost rights for American citizens such as myself. We must act, and we must act quickly before it is too late.
