Trump Is Targeting Political Enemies—Congress Must Act

Trump is using the government to punish his enemies—again. His order stripping Perkins Coie attorneys of security clearances and barring them from federal buildings is pure political revenge (The Guardian, March 12, 2025). This is what dictators do. If Congress lets this stand, no opposition will be safe. We’ve seen this before. Nixon’s “Enemies List” and COINTELPRO targeted political opponents and civil rights leaders to silence dissent. It was wrong then, and it’s worse now because Trump is openly testing the limits of his power (Politico, March 2025). If no one stops him, what’s next? Jailing critics? Shutting down media? This is a line in the sand. I demand you speak out, condemn this abuse, and push for an investigation into Trump’s weaponization of government. Will you defend democracy, or will you cower in silence while America falls? The time to act is now.
