The United States of America, in all her 200+ years of history has never had a President so self-centered, so callous to the needs of his citizens, so mendacious and mean in all his communications, so devoid of conscience that he can sit by whining about losing the election while literally millions of US citizens are being victimized by one of the deadliest pandemics ever to sweep the planet. This man is unfit to hold public office of any kind because he despises the public and has no understanding of the concept of civic duty and yet he holds the highest public office in the land. The irony is palpable yet we must face the reality. The people of the United States of America elected Trump and so we must all bear the responsibility for this egregious historical deviation because we sat by permitted it to happen or, worse yet, we enabled it by holding our noses and looking the other way when confronted by his filthy rhetoric and vitriolic humor. Not to mention his infantile tantrums and outrageous behavior on the world stage. Yes, Trump is truly an embarrassment to the USA and should be fired, to take a phrase from his own playbook. The real question in all our minds at this moment should be, "How do we ensure that nothing like this happens again?" Sadly, the incoming administration has much higher priorities than an overhaul of the US electoral system, and rightfully so. This is why we are still stuck with an antiquated institution like the Electoral College after all these decades. No one has had the time or the political clout to tackle that issue in over a century.
