THE GOP REMAINS ON THE WRONG SIDE OF WHAT AMERICANS WANT

It’s apparent why GOP communication is effective. When you don’t have to speak the truth and are willingly to bend reality to whatever purpose serves your politics, it’s liberating. Anything goes. When even one seed of misinformation takes root, it can be hard to dislodge. And that strategy often works. But right now, it’s not. On the shutdown…Normally the two sides would negotiate. But the president is telling Republican senators to “BOYCOTT NEGOTIATING.” And they are following orders. While blaming Democrats. The House chooses to be in permanent recess rather than come back and face a vote on releasing the Epstein files. JD Vance says “We have to lay off some federal workers in the midst of this shutdown to preserve the essential benefits for the American people that the government does provide,” blaming Democrats for the reductions. Not true. Many federal workers aren’t being paid during the shutdown, so laying them off wouldn’t free up any funds. Plus if they were being paid, the money wouldn’t be available for 60 days, when most must actually leave their jobs. And any funds saved by laying off several thousand federal employees would be only a tiny fraction of what’s needed to fund WIC and the military or other ‘essential benefits.’ It makes a good sound bite for the uninformed but is absolutely deceptive in intent. But at least the House Judiciary Committee is bringing more transparency to the table by summoning every spec of evidence that Jack Smith produced on his investigation into Mar-a-Lago document hoarding, the events of January 6, and Donald Trump’s involvement with both. And Jim Jordan wants a behind-the-door interview with Smith as well. Fantastic. Can’t wait to read about it all. We the people will finally know the results of his investigation that have so far been thwarted by politics. Now, if we can just get Speaker Johnson to do the job of swearing in the new AZ Rep so we can the Epstein files released maybe we’ll finally get some evidence that this actually is the most transparent administration in the history of the world.
