I urge you to address our growing biodiversity crisis and pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act (H.R. 2773) in this Congress.
The crises facing wildlife have worsened considerably in recent years, exacerbated by climate change, evolving threats from toxins and diseases, and a growing human footprint. States, territories, and tribes are central to efforts to restore wildlife and conserve habitat in the United States, but if we are to have any chance of successfully righting this crisis, dedicated and predictable funding is needed.
This bill will commit $1.3 billion annually to implement state and territorial wildlife action plans, plus $97.5 million annually to Tribal wildlife programs. This will provide the resources needed to maintain the species of greatest conservation need in each region of the country.
Additionally, the labor-intensive work of restoring wildlife populations and habitat would also make a significant contribution to creating jobs that tribes, communities, and the country need to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.
For the sake of America’s biodiversity, please vote for the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act.
