Demand Immediate Action on Illegal Military Strikes in Caribbean

I am writing to express my absolute outrage and fury over the recent allegations against Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth regarding illegal military strikes in the Caribbean. The Washington Post's report of Hegseth ordering Special Operations commanders to "kill everybody" on a boat suspected of drug trafficking in September 2022 is not just troubling—it's abhorrent and demands immediate, decisive action. I am livid that our nation's military leadership could potentially be involved in such egregious violations of international law and human rights. The accusation that Secretary Hegseth ordered a second strike to kill survivors after an initial missile strike is nothing short of horrifying. These actions, if true, are tantamount to cold-blooded murder and a complete betrayal of American values and principles. The assessment by the Former Judge Advocates General (JAGs) Working Group that these orders were illegal—whether considered part of an armed conflict or not—underscores the severity of this situation. The fact that Secretary Hegseth allegedly fired military legal advisers to enable these actions is a blatant abuse of power that cannot go unchallenged. This must stop immediately. The United States cannot engage in extrajudicial killings and potential war crimes. As my representative, I demand that you take the following actions without delay: 1. Call for Secretary Hegseth's immediate suspension pending a full, independent investigation. 2. Push for an emergency congressional hearing to address these allegations and their implications for U.S. foreign policy. 3. Introduce legislation to strengthen oversight of military operations and prevent such abuses of power in the future. 4. Demand a comprehensive review of all U.S. military engagements in the Caribbean and Latin America to ensure compliance with international law. These alleged actions not only violate our most fundamental principles but also severely damage America's credibility on the global stage. They represent a dangerous and unacceptable escalation of military force that threatens to destabilize international relations and undermine our national security. I expect you to treat this matter with the utmost urgency. Your swift and forceful response is crucial to restoring the integrity of our military operations and reaffirming our nation's commitment to human rights and the rule of law. Anything less than immediate and decisive action is unacceptable. The world is watching, and history will judge us by how we respond to this crisis.
