An open letter to the U.S. Congress

IS DOJ AS INCOMPETENT THEY SEEM? THE EPSTEIN FILES ARE A MESS

14 so far! Help us get to 25 signers!

It truly is Groundhog Day when it comes to the Epstein files. Same old routine over and over. More files dumped. More intense dissecting. Few mysteries resolved. Rinse and repeat. A few new developments keep public interest piqued. Like the fact that Donald Trump is mentioned 5,300 times, that we know of. But any discussion of his role seems to have been obscured by DOJ’s haphazard release. Instead we get to see nude photos of women and perhaps of girls, with faces unblurred so they could be easily identified. With personal information released so they can be easily doxxed. And potentially victimized again in their brave quest for justice. Is this part of the plan? To put the focus on the victims to distract from the perpetrators? The DOJ, contrary to its claims, seems to be more focused on protecting perpetrators than victims. Why did they cite needing more time for redactions as their excuse for failing to comply with the deadlines Congress set in the Epstein Files Transparency Act if this is the best they can do? The victims are surely asking why they came forward and exposed themselves to great risk, only to have nothing happen. It should be Congress’ job to reassure us that victims can come forward and powerful men can be held accountable. Why isn’t that happening? Lots of names, mostly men some women, are in the released files. Not an indication of criminal activity, but shouldn’t questions be asked regardless? Congress jumped quickly on demanding testimony from Bill Clinton. He finally agreed to testify. As did Hillary, even though she does not appear in the files. Clinton knew Epstein. There are photos of the two together, and Clinton traveled on his plane. He denied knowledge of Epstein’s crimes and says he ended the connection after his initial prosecution. Again. Rinse and repeat. And deny. P.S. We can be fairly certain that if there was evidence in the files that contradicted Clinton’s claims, it would have been shouted from the rooftops by now. Regardless, it’s fair for Congress to pursue its inquiry and obtain the former President’s testimony. If he was part of Epstein’s crimes, he absolutely should be held accountable. But why should Hillary need to testify, when there is no evidence connecting her to Epstein? Will it be rule that the wife of any man named in the files should be questioned as well? If so, that takes us back to Donald Trump, who is mentioned far more times in the files than Clinton. And whose current wife is pictured with both Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. So at least the Clintons testifying will set a precedent that will require people with far stronger linkage to Epstein—and their wives—to testify. If they don’t, the GOP-led investigation will face even more claims that it’s trying to hide the truth. Let’s remember who the real victims are in this travesty. And it’s not the people who ran with Epstein, even knowing the things he was accused of. Who are now running scared because they are finally perhaps maybe facing consequences for actions they knew were wrong, but they did it anyway. Because they believed themselves untouchable. It’s called accountability. And we the people are waiting for y’all to put your money where your mouths are. Do your jobs, not for the powerful, but for the ones who believed you when you said you would stand up for them.
