It is time to make sure that the rights of women are codified into law when it comes to access to reproductive health care. Today's ruling by the supreme court has put in danger the lives of individuals, the well-being of families, and the economy of the country. As elected officials these are things that you are supposed to protect. Abortions are health care. They support the physical and mental well-being of those who need to have them. Even if people who are pregnant choose not to have an abortion, making sure they are available means peace of mind when complications arise. A pregnant person will be at risk if they require an abortion, and it isn't available to them. They will seek out the care they need and if it cannot be done legally, it will be done illegally, just as it was before Roe v. Wade was decided. And people will die just as they die today and just as they did before Roe v. Wade. And Families will suffer. If abortions are not allowed, women will continue to be pressured to have children and will end up leaving the workforce. This will continue to impact our economy just as the mass disruption to our workforce caused by the pandemic has impacted our economy. Many people who are single caregivers or who are expected to care for their children, or other loved ones have had to leave the workforce. This will continue to be the case if people are forced to have children that they are not prepared to have. There will be more people who require government assistance because they cannot work and care for their children. As a country we will be worse of
