An open letter to the President

Stop deadly cuts to HIV prevention

3 so far! Help us get to 5 signers!

The cuts to HIV prevention programs are catastrophic and will have far-reaching consequences. Recklessly terminating contracts that provide life-saving treatment for HIV will deprive 350,000 people of access to essential care. This action represents a disturbing departure from America's leadership in the global fight against HIV/AIDS and will undo decades of progress. People will needlessly die, including mothers passing the virus to newborns during childbirth. HIV strains will develop resistance, rendering current treatments ineffective and threatening to spread beyond the affected regions. These drastic cuts undermine efforts to contain and ultimately eliminate HIV on a global scale. Abandoning this vital work serves no strategic purpose and does not contribute to deficit reduction. Immediate action must be taken to restore funding and prevent this humanitarian crisis from escalating further. The impacts will reverberate for years, making America and the world less healthy and secure.
